What Claude Pro actually gets you
Claude Pro is Anthropic's entry-level paid tier at $20/month or $200/year. It gives you access to all three current model tiers — Claude Opus 4.5 (flagship reasoning and long-form work), Claude Sonnet 4.6 (the everyday workhorse that balances speed and quality), and Claude Haiku 4.5 (fast, cheap, great for quick tasks). Usage limits are roughly 5x what the free plan allows, though Anthropic doesn't publish hard token caps — they express limits as 'hours of usage' that vary based on server load and which model you're hitting.
Pro also unlocks Projects, which let you give Claude persistent context — custom instructions, uploaded reference documents, and memory that carries across conversations within the project. This is the feature that turns Claude from a chatbot into something closer to a specialized work assistant. You can create a project for coding, one for client work, one for content — each with its own system prompt and knowledge base.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is available on Pro, which means you can connect Claude to external tools, databases, and services via the MCP standard. This matters if you're building automations or integrating Claude into your workflow. Priority access during peak hours is included, and Claude.ai's web interface plus the iOS and Android apps all work on Pro.
What Pro does NOT include: central billing for multiple seats, an admin console, SSO integration, audit logs, or custom data retention policies. It's a single-user plan designed for individuals. If you're trying to share a Pro account across a team, you're violating Anthropic's terms of service and will hit usage walls fast.
